Information about Aurora Scientific Inc.
History
Aurora Scientific Inc. was founded in 1979 as a Canadian owned consulting and R&D company. The corporation's original name was S+J Engineering Inc. and was changed to Aurora Scientific Inc. in May 1997.
Capability
Aurora Scientific Inc. is primarily involved in the development and manufacture of specialized research instrumentation, mechanical and electronic design, development and production of prototype instruments, systems integration, feasibility studies and data analysis. The company also has experience with integrating off-the-shelf hardware and software into stand-alone data acquisition systems.
Experience
Aurora Scientific Inc. has designed and built many prototype instruments including: fast-response chemical concentration sensors, chemical tracer dissemination systems, a laser-Doppler velocimeter for the measurement of boundary layer flow around towed arrays, two distinctly different extensional flow rheometers for the characterization of polymer fluids in extensional flows, and a settling velocimeter for the measurement of the settling velocity of sediments. Other work has included: feasibility studies, the development of an extensive flow model, a mathematical model predicting evaporation of droplets from arbitrary surfaces and the design and manufacture of pressure reducing devices for use in CANDU nuclear power stations.
Muscle Physiology
Aurora Scientific Inc. acquired the muscle physiology product line of Cambridge Technology, Inc. in 1997. Since that time Aurora Scientific has continued to manufacture muscle physiology equipment to the high standards set by Cambridge Technology. We still manufacture the 300B and 400A series of muscle levers and force transducers but have increased our product offerings to include new and faster lever systems, an extended range of force transducers, test apparatus, data acquisition and control hardware and software and field stimulators. Aurora Scientific Inc. is also the exclusive repair centre for all Cambridge Technology Inc. muscle physiology products.
