610A Dynamic Muscle Control (DMC)

The 610A Dynamic Muscle Control (DMC) software was designed to enable physiology researchers to study the dynamic mechanical characteristics of muscle tissue. The system is capable of controlling and taking data from all of our 300C series muscle levers, our 400A series of force transducers and our 700A series of stimulators. The DMC software can also be used with other manufacturer’s instruments. A unique feature of our DMC software is its capability of creating arbitrary length, force, and stimulation control signals. You are not limited to simple square waves, sine waves, and fixed-frequency stimulation.
DMC has an easy-to-use graphical user interface and is written using the LabVIEW programming language. The software collects high-resolution length and force data while controlling the length and force of the muscle tissue under test. Collected data can then be plotted and analyzed within the program. The DMC program also includes a real-time scrolling display of the current length and force. This scrolling display can be frozen at any time and then up to 30 minutes of data can be reviewed.

611A Dynamic Muscle Analysis (DMA)

The 611A Dynamic Muscle Analysis (DMA) software provides analysis of data recorded using the DMC program. DMA can also be used to analyse 600A Digital Controller data sets. 
DMA has an easy-to-use graphical user interface and is written using the LabVIEW programming language. The software analyzes the data recorded by our data acquisition products, and produces muscle data, work loop data, and time derivative data. Collected data can be plotted and analyzed within the programs many windows.

612A Dynamic Muscle Analysis - High Throughput (DMA-HT)

The 612A Dynamic Muscle Analysis High Throughput software (DMA-HT) is a plug-in module for DMA that automates the analysis of large data sets such as those collected when performing Force-Frequency, Force-Time, Position-Time or Fatigue Analysis experiments.
The High Throughput module automatically places cursors in your data files, calculates muscle analysis data for a list of files very quickly and then displays the results in a tabular format. Each file’s cursors can be manually adjusted afterwards, or the user can optionally disable automatic cursor placement instead opting to manually set a timestamp to apply for all data files in the experiment.

615A Dynamic Muscle Control and Analysis Software Suite (DMC/DMA-HT)

The 615A Dynamic Muscle Control and Analysis with High Throughput software suite (DMC/DMA-HT) combines the three programs into one powerful and complete software package. Researchers now have an integrated, powerful and complete software suite to handle the entire data collection, control and analysis functions of muscle contractile experiments.

DMC Control Program

  • Controls all ASI series 300C Lever Systems.
  • Real-time output of Length and Force.
  • Isometric and Isotonic Control.
  • Stimulation Control: controls stimulator pulse width, frequency and duration (when used with an ASI 701C Stimulator).  Create train frequencies to allow cardiac pacing, etc.

DMA Analysis Program

  • Analyzes files from DMC ver 4.x, DMC ver 5.x and 600A Digital Controller. 
  • On-screen zoom controls allow any portion of the force or position profiles to be selected for analysis.
  • Force parameters calculated: baseline tension, time to peak tension, dF/dt, peak tension, half relaxation time, total contraction time, tension time integral.
  • Length parameters calculated: maximum displacement from baseline position and dL/dt.
  • Data Filtering with a dual-pass Butterworth digital filter with a user selected cutoff frequency.
  • Normalization of data allows data to be presented as L/Lref, F/Fref, stress or strain.
  • Work Loop module.
  • Time Derivative module.
  • Line Fitting module.
  • Simple export of data

Useful Tools

We have created some tools to help our customers manage large amounts of datafiles. First, the DMCv4 Mass File Converter, which converts files from the DMCv4 binary format, to a comma separated values file, which can be loaded directly into MS Excel, or many statistical analysis software packages such as Matlab, Maple, or SAS. Secondly, we have created DMA Pre-Processor for our customers to adjust their data before using it with DMAv3.2 or DMA HighThruput. DMA Pre-Processor creates modified copies of your data so that they are based around zero, instead of a DC offset. This ensures proper functionality of DMA and DMA HighThroughput's filters.
