The 801C small intact muscle test apparatus allows  physiology researchers to easily test small intact muscle tissue with an ASI model 322C high-speed length controller and an ASI series 400A force transducer.

The apparatus consists of a single perfusion bath with a glass bottom, two platinum stimulation electrodes, thermocouple, 2 TEC heater/coolers, TEC temperature sensor, TEC control system, water cooler and a 1 litre perfusate reservoir. All parts are manufactured from corrosion resistant materials (stainless steel, anodized aluminum and Delrin).

The force transducer is attached to the muscle through a slot in the end of the bath. This ensures that the force transducer is directly in line with the muscle tissue thus minimizing off-axis force errors. The design positions the lever arm in the bath to minimize the distance between the lever arm and the tissue thus minimizing vertical movement of the tissue. The plate is sloped on either side of the bath to provide good access to the tissue while minimizing the chance of overflow from the bath.
